Case study
Shopping Guides
Over a decade-long collaboration with Carrefour du Nord, I contributed to the creation of nearly thirty seasonal shopping guides, bringing together art direction, fashion and product photography, editorial design, and advertising.
Each edition called for a cohesive creative vision, balancing fashion storytelling, commercial objectives, and the technical demands of print production.
Case Study
Project Overview
Each seasonal Shopping Guide was conceived as a fashion and lifestyle publication, combining editorial storytelling with the commercial objectives of Carrefour du Nord.
Published three times a year in print and digital formats, each 32–48 page edition featured fashion editorials, product photography, and advertising created to showcase the shopping centre’s retailers and position Carrefour du Nord as a leading fashion destination in the Laurentians.
Creative Direction
The creative challenge was to develop a distinctive editorial experience while maintaining consistency with the visual identity established for the Westcliff Group’s seasonal campaigns.
The front and back covers were developed by Publicis, in collaboration with Westcliff’s marketing team. My role was to oversee the art direction and visual production of the interior pages, translating the established creative direction into a cohesive publication.
Each edition offered an opportunity to explore a different seasonal atmosphere through photography, set design, styling, and editorial composition.
An Integrated Creative Process
From fashion and product photography to advertising design, retouching, editorial layouts, and prepress, my involvement extended across the creative and technical production process.
Each guide combined approximately 10–16 pages of fashion trends with 20–30 pages of retail advertising, requiring a consistent visual approach across both editorial and commercial content.
Fashion shoots were produced in a studio set up at Carrefour du Nord for the spring and Christmas editions, while fall productions often took advantage of outdoor locations.
Collaboration & Production
Working closely with Carrefour du Nord’s marketing director, I contributed to the creative planning, visual concepts, set design, location selection, and overall direction of each edition.
The marketing director coordinated talent, styling, scheduling, and merchant approvals, while I was responsible for photography, graphic design, image retouching, editorial production, and prepress preparation.
Photo shoots typically involved teams of 8–12 creative professionals, including stylists, makeup artists, hairstylists, models, and assistants. I also collaborated with a writer and a French-language editor to ensure the quality of the publication’s editorial content.
With approximately six weeks allocated to each edition, careful coordination and production management were essential to meeting the fixed printing deadlines.
Project Scope & Results
Nearly thirty editions were produced between 2007 and 2016, each printed in more than 80,000 copies and distributed throughout the greater Saint-Jérôme region.
The collaboration extended over ten years, with every edition delivered on schedule.
The project reflects a long-standing creative partnership, bringing together editorial storytelling, commercial objectives, and the technical precision required for large-scale print production.

SELECTED EDITIONS
A selection of fashion editorials from the Carrefour du Nord Shopping Guides, each shaped by its own creative direction, visual atmosphere, and seasonal inspiration.
Bringing together fashion photography, product styling, and editorial design, these editions reflect the creative approach behind each publication.
Christmas 2016
This Christmas edition tells a story about the preparations for Christmas and the feelings of sharing and excitement that come with this time of year. The photo session took place in the premises of Carrefour du Nord in collaboration with Mireille Bouchard and the style agency La chienne à Jacques. This 48-page Christmas edition includes 16 pages of fashion trends and warming gift ideas.
Fall 2016
The photo shoot of this fall edition took place at Les écuries Annie Corbeil in Sainte-Sophie. Annie welcomed our team on her propriety for a day and guided us around the horses to take magnificent images. This 40-page Fall edition include 14 pages of fashion trends that has been created in collaboration with Nathalie Lamoureux and the style agency La chienne à Jacques.
Spring 2016
Inspired by the covers created by Publicis, we fabricated a pastel pink decor and garnished it with flowers for a light and refreshing effect! The fashion shoot took place at the Carrefour du Nord premises during the freezing cold of March and includes 14 pages of spring fashion trends and joyful accessories.
Christmas 2015
This year, Christmas collections are chic and glamorous. To bring out this aspect, we made a dark and sumptuous decor and added a subtle white smoke to it for an even more dramatic effect. The lighting is designed to accentuate the contrasts and make the rich and delicate materials shine. The 2015 Christmas edition has 48 pages and includes 14 pages of fashion trends and shiny gift ideas.
Fall 2015
All Autumn Shopping Guide are produced in August to be distributed in September. The fall clothing collections lend themselves wonderfully to an outdoor photo shoot with models. I have to cheat a little, however, to transform the verdant nature of August into autumn colors. A few color calibrations and it’s done! For more comfort and control, the product-atmosphere pictures are taken in studio.
